Archery

Archery targets and equipment are available for rent at Dyess ODR. Enjoy individual play, family fun, or have a squadron party!

Paintball

Our large paintball field is loaded with old military vehicles, trailers, small buildings, and obstacles for all skill levels. We have a sheltered “safe area” with picnic tables for spectators. Great for dorm, group fun, squadron parties, and fundraisers!

Climbing Boulder

Our climbing boulder is located at398 Ave C, Dyess AFB, TX 79607,near the Dyess Lanes parking lot.Climb at your own risk. Must be at least 12 years old to climb & spotters are highly recommended.

Batting Cages

The batting cages are located in between the Hangar Center and the Fitness Center’s outdoor track.

On-Base Fishing

The fishing pond is located east of FAMCAMP, near the 7th Medical Group. You must have a valid Texas Fishing license in your possession, coupled with a base fishing permit to fish on Dyess AFB. Fishing permits are available at ODR.

Rules & Regulations

All Trips
  • Participants will need to sign ODR Hold Harmless Agreement waiver prior to each event.
  • All trips leave from ODR unless specified.
  • Appropriate attire must be worn for each trip.
Fishing
  • Fishing license must be up to date.

Hunting (Doves, Ducks, Geese and Cranes)
  • Check before you go! ODR is not responsible for any tickets and/or fines customers may receive for not having the proper licenses, endorsements, stamps, or equipment.
  • Must have:
    • Valid Texas Hunting License
    • Migratory Game Bird Endorsement
    • HIP Certification
    • Sandhill Crane Endorsement (free at TPWD located 5325 N 3rd St, Abilene, TX 79603)

Rental Policies

RENTAL RESERVATIONS

Reservations are required. Reservations must be made 30 days or less prior to the date of pick-up. Full payment is taken upon time of reservation. Pick up and Return appointments will be made at the time of reservation for all rental reservations. Items can be rented for a maximum of 30 consecutive days.

RENTAL PICK UPS

Customers signing for receipt of equipment will be responsible for condition of listed equipment. Customers must be prepared to spend up to 30/45 minutes for safety training/ familiarization training and equipment checks.

RENTAL RETURNS

Equipment Yard closes 30 minutes before close of business, no items will be checked out or returned after yard closure. Items returned after 4:00 pm will be assessed an additional one day fee. All items must be dropped off in the yard during business hours and properly checked in by an ODR staff. Fees will be assessed for any item left unattended. Customer is responsible for cleaning rental equipment prior to return to Outdoor Recreation.

CLEANING FEES

A minimum $25 cleaning fee will be assessed per item if not returned clean.

DAMAGE FEES

Customers are responsible for the repairs of damaged equipment to include labor or replacement of lost/damaged equipment. Items lost will be replaced with a new item at customer expense.

CANCELLATIONS

All cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to pick-up date to receive a full refund. Cancellations made inside the 48 hour window are non-refundable.

MOTORIZED BOATS

All reservations must be made 48 hours prior to the date of pick-up. A current Texas Boater Safety Card is required to rent a boat. Texas Boater Safety Cards can be obtained at www.boat-ed.com/texas. Customer must have knowledge of the equipment. Customer must demonstrate and have knowledge of hitching/unhitching item.

CAMPERS

All reservations must be made a minimum of 48 hours prior to the date of pick-up. Customer must have knowledge of the equipment. Campers are Winterized during Off-Season. Customer must demonstrate and have knowledge of hitching/unhitching item. Campers requires a brake control box.

TRAILERS

Customer must demonstrate and have knowledge of hitching/unhitching item. Double axle trailers requires a brake control box.

Recharge for Resiliency (R4R) Discounts

Active Duty and Reservists are eligible for discounted program prices through the three programs offered through the Recharge for Resiliency (R4R) Program:

  • Single Airman Programs (SAPI): Open to unmarried (single) Air Force Active Duty members, reservists, and one guest
  • RecOn Programs: Air Force Active Duty, reservists, and their immediate family members
  • Deployed Affected Programs (DAP): Open to Air Force Active Duty & their immediate family – for a spouse & one guest while deployed
