Dyess Office of Violence Prevention will host two ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) courses aboard Dyess. Critical skills training for First Sgts/Responders/Clinicians/Caregivers/Law Enforcement/Nurse/Key Spouses & Spouses.

Attached is a flyer with information about the ASIST courses as well as the research supporting the training. If you are likely to encounter distressed personnel who may be suicidal in your helping role, then this class will be of benefit to you. I have 30 seats available in each ASIST course. The training will be at the Dyess Chapel Annex.

If you are interested in taking this training, it is two days long. First class is 17-18 December 2018, Second class is 23-24 January 2019. If interested, please send an email to Mr. Carlos Duchesne at carlos.duchesne@us.af.mil. There is no cost to participants.

In addition, those who complete the ASIST training are eligible to sign up for the SAFETALK Instructor Course which will take place in January/February 2019. SAFETALK Instructors are authorized to teach the skills-based workshop in their units as well as to civilians off or on the installation.

Please Note: ASIST is not awareness training, but in fact skillls-based intervention training. It can greatly assist when helping Airmen & family members in distress. ... See MoreSee Less
